This session was the first in a series of events looking at how to engage with prospective parliamentary candidates (PPCs).
We were joined by two PPCs from the Conservative party:
Aphra Brandreth, PPC for Chester South and Eddisbury: Aphra spent 10 years as an Economics Adviser at DEFRA before running her own veterinary business. She is National Deputy Chairman for the Conservative Women’s Organisation.
John Cope, PPC for Esher and Walton: John previously worked as Executive Director (Strategy) at UCAS and in a range of roles at Public First, the CBI and Visit England. He has also served in adviser roles to Lord Willetts, Lord Morgan and Pauline Latham OBE.
During this session, our guests covered:
• Effective ways to engage with the work of PPCs in the lead-up to the general election
• Best practice for inputting into PPCs’ policy areas of interest
• How to engage with PPCs following their election to the Commons and during the first months of being an MP
